Those who do not yet know the mobile number portability (MNP) is a service whereby a mobile subscriber can move from one operator to another without having to change his mobile number. For example, you can choose to select services Voafone on your Airtel number or vice versa, courtesy MNP. As posted earlier, the mobile number portability already deployed for cellular customers in Rohtak, Haryana and will progressively be implemented in other countries that covers the entire nation, January 20, 2011.

Android 2.1 for SONY XPERIA x10

Finally, Sony Ericsson announced has to release Google Android 2.1 Eclair update for its Xperia X10 family handsets. Tomorrow on Sunday, the Android 2.1 update would start rolling out phase wise for Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. But still there s no guarantee that all Xperia X10 family handset owners will get the update immediately. Only the non-branded Xperia X10 series handsets will get notification for Android 2.1 update.

Richard Skogberg at Sony Ericsson Product blog noted that generic kits for the Nordic countries would be pushed out tomorrow evening European time. More kits would be rolled out on Monday and then the roll out has been spread out for next month - Nov. The key changes coming with Android 2.1 update are: Xperia X10:

- HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for high quality videos - Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1 - New back up and restore application, with extended content back up - 5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders - Social phonebook which automatically syncs contact pictures from Facebook and shows when your friends are online

Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro:

- Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more - New backup and restore application with extended content back up - Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phone book - Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages

Generic unbranded Xperia X10, X10 Mini or X10 Mini Pro handset owners will get notification of Android 2.1 update which can be downloaded Over-the-Air using Wi-Fi or mobile GPRS. Alternatively, users can also take help of PC Companion software to download and install the Android 2.1 update on their Xperia X10 series phone. We'd suggest you to download via PC Companion software to be on safer side.

Update: I would like to clarify that Sony Ericsson Blog didn't mention anything about pushing out Android 2.1 update region-wise. The Android 2.1 update for "specific kits" as in phone with specific color and network settings aka Mobile Service Provider branded Xperia X10 series phones will get updates later and not immediately. Rest assured for the update is indeed in the anvil. All you have to do is wait for the notification to appear on your device's notification bar.

Improve The Status Of Your Battery To Increase Battery Life

Maintenance and storage

1. If the battery is a long time (several months) do not, remove the saved backup from the machine. Suggested that each month and a half or so once the battery discharge and charge order to improve the status of your battery to increase battery capacity.

2. If the battery is not a long time, it should be power set to 30 ~ 50% in storage, it is recommended to charge the battery about once a year, and its power set to 30 ~ 50%, to prevent over-discharge and damage the battery. The battery power setting to 30 to 50% of the specific methods of operation are as follows: When the battery is greater than 50%, power consumption can be 30 to 50%. If the power consumption of less than 30%, the first power consumption to 3% to 100% and then recharge power consumption can be 30 ~ 50%.

3. Use the battery to high temperatures and a cold environment, the battery performance will be temporarily reduced. Standby mode should be saved and stored at the state of the battery to places of lower temperature, the battery, the best temperature range is about 10 to 20 degrees Celsius.

Starting value on the adjustment of charge

Charge the initial value set, click the system tray in the power plug icon (when you use the AC power) or white large battery icon (when you boot using the battery) / select Improve Battery Health / Modify Start charging when below the value . Do not use for extended periods and intentionally charging substantially change management process in the battery charging set start value; because when you set the start value of low charge (eg 80%), though with a battery AC power adapter “charge with the cycle” may take up to three or four months, but if the battery is bound to have to use the re-activation of its processing, otherwise the battery status and capacity of the poor. This is in fact increased the number of charge cycles and shorten battery life. Furthermore, the battery every month and a half or so in need of a discharge and charge order, and that the initial value set by charging low (eg 80%) charge after the extension period will be even more with no meaning.

10 Best and Free Android Apps Must Install

You must like Android very much like me. Now Android 2.1and Android 2.2 are very popular. You must want to know best applications for Android. This article will show you the top 10 applications for Android must install.

My first Android powered mobile phone was the T-Mobile G1. Gosh I loved it. With its love or hate plastic build, easy to use functional QWERTY keyboard and all the social networking tools I could shake a stick at Android powered phones were definitely for me.

After testing out apps on Android powered phones, I have drawn up a list of the top ten free Android apps you should have.

Therefore, if you’ve got an Android mobile phone such as the Nexus One, here are the all important apps you should take a look at…

1 Twidroid

Twidroid is quite simply the best Android app for Twitter usage. The free edition, which I have used for 4 months, has many of the features you would want from a Twitter app – with the paid version offering even more features, but not necessary ones. If you have an Android powered handset, and use Twitter – whether for personal or business use, then get this app! It is crazily good, and the UI is pleasing to look at.

2. Google Sky Maps (Star Gazing / Astronomy)

Okay. This is admittedly not a practical app. A GPS app. An game app or an app which you would use to solve your lifes little problems, but boy is Google Sky Maps fun to use! For the novelty effect this app has on people you should really try it – people who already have it know what I am talking about, it is the one app which, show it an iPhone user, they will be pretty miffed about. Your mates will love it too. Point your phone at the sky, and it’ll map every single constellation imaginable.

3. Note Everything (Note Taking / Organisational)

Note Everything does exactly what is says on the tin! You can pretty much note anything using this app. You can note things in the format of text, paint, voice, checklists and photos. On top of this, shortcuts are very easy to create and you can link them to home, search, send notes, encrypt, reminders and Note Everything even runs with live folders! A must have app for the forgetful type.

4. Meebo IM (Instant Messaging)

Meebo IM is possibly the best instant messaging integration App. It is compatible with all IM account types – whether they be Google Talk, MSN, AOL, Yahoo or Facebook . Fairly fast yet it can be unreliable, but Meebo IM is great when it does work. In fact, it is an IM necessity.

5. Advanced Task Killer (Task Manager)

Admittedly Android powered handsets can be a little sluggish sometimes, and sometimes take up to 3 seconds to close an app or web page. That’s because there is so much going on! But, if you are not feeling the love, then you could always download the free edition of Advanced Task Killer. It will display itself as a gadget, and after two clicks will free up your internal memory and rearrange files on your phone a little bit like a defragment! You will definitely see an improvement in performance, and it should reduce the lagginess Android comes with.

6. AP Mobile (News Aggregator)

Ap Mobile is a news App. And a brilliant one at that. It updates itself regularly, bringing you the latest headlines in every category imaginable – from nature, to technology, to politics, to business > you name it, they’ve got it covered. Free to download, and lots of fact binding up to date articles at your fingertips.

7. Metal Detector (Fun / Novelty)

Yep. It is another un-practical app. But oh how you should try this. I bet you thought that your mobile phone compass was only good for, well, being a compass – right? Wrong! Download the Metal Detector App and you’ll be very surprised by the effectiveness of this app. It works for me through a wooden table top!

8. Chomp SMS (Text Messaging)

Ahh! You are thinking, isn’t that the app with the exact same interface as the iPhones? Well, erm, yeah it is. But that is a good thing! I mean, it is very clean to look at and most of all is free ! I’m really not selling this one am I? Damn it. Okay, just try it – you’ll see it is a great app! Don’t know what it is? It turns your SMS interface into an iPhone replica. Yep, and don’t act like you do not like the iPhone interface

9. Layar (Augmented Reality)

It is a strange app Layar. I use it for fun – as a gimmick, but it could be so much more. Basically, Layar uses your GPS, handset compass and camera to display information on your surroundings in real time. You can hold it in front of you, and see details on landmarks and points of interest, or search for something like ‘toaster’ and all the relevant locations will be up on your display quick time. Nice eh?

10. Phonebook (Contact Manager)

Last but not least comes Phonebook. What list would not be complete without it? It is really good for managing your contacts, the UI is very slick indeed and sthe app syncs your contacts with pictures and contextual information such as birthdays, missed calls and unread text messages. A nice management app which is totally free!

The Best Place to BUY i - phone : HONGKONG

Today, the Internet as wel
l as local newspapers covered this story where people of the Chinese origin in U.S. were buying iPhone 4s in bulk that are eventually imported by their own country, where Apple is officially releasing its star-studded phone tomorrow. Dvice.com stated that these phones are sold for as high as $1000 in China! Newspapers also depicted the irony that these iPhone 4's are originally manufactured (by an OEM called Foxconn) in China, then shipped to U.S. where they're locked to AT&T net
work, and sold without a contract for $599 for a 16GB model. So, basically on its return trip back to China, the pric
e is increased by a good $400 which we can assume is commissioned by all the middlemen; from the people who buy it in U.S., to the people who actually sell the device in China.
This got me thinking; we have people in our own country who're paying that kind of sum for an iPhone 4. A quick search on ebay.in reveals that most iPhone 4s selling here are purchased and unlocked from U.S. Currently, the lowest is at Rs. 40,000 while some are ridiculously high at Rs. 55,000. Firstly, I am very sure many are ignorant about the concept of unlocking and jailbreaking and its implications. Back in May, I'd even written about it, trying to clear some misconceptions. Still, I keep running into people who accidentally update their iPhone OS, only to realize that their phone gets locked with the newer version.
I agree restoring and jailbreaking/unlocking the iPhone isn't rocket science, and anybody who reads a tutorial on the Internet can do it in a matter of minutes. However, the non-savvy people are at the mercy of local cell-phone sellers who "specialize" in such procedures; charging them anywhere between Rs. 650 to Rs. 1,500 for unlocking/jail-breaking their device. It has become a good business opportunity
for them; where the owner doesn't have to worry about anything and even gets his phone back working with a lot of apps pre-loaded as a " bonus".
Tip for people wanting to buy the iPhone 4 in India:
1) If you can wait till October (which isn't too far from now), and
are using Airtel or Vodafone, then it would be better to wait till either carrier launches the phone officially here. The advantage? You will get official warranty for your phone (which you lose if you get one from any other country, unless you are able to send the phone back to the country of purchase for repairs, should anything go wrong).
2) If you are on another operator, or can't wait till either Vodafone/Airtel releases it officially here, then I'd suggest you insist on one that is imported from a country where the iPhone's sold without a contract AND officially unlocked. Here's a quick memory jog of all the countries that do this:
Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Russia, Turkey, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, South Africa
Off all these countries, the Apple Hong Kong Store currently has the best pricing. You can get one for Rs. 29,274 ($642) - and use it with any carrier you want here. People keen on jailbreaking the phone can go ahead and do so. But for people who're not very savvy with this fairly risky procedure, buying one from Hong Kong will also give them a peace of mind and an assurance that their phone won't get locked because of an accidental phone update.
